Polk County Paula is Des Moines’ resident groundhog who regales fans with her annual prediction at the High Life Lounge’s Annual Groundhog Day Celebration. Every year on February 2nd groundhog enthusiasts line up before 5am to be first in line for FREE Miller High Life breakfast beer given out from 6-8 am. Paula’s annual prediction happens at sunrise, closely followed by regional meteorologists. Paula makes a grand entrance from her beer-case burrow, where she hibernates throughout the colder winter months!
