About Jill

Birmingham Jill is the resident opossum prognosticator for the Birmingham Zoo in central Alabama. The zoo does have a live-in groundhog — Birmingham Bill — but Jill is nice enough to take over for him on February 2nd each year so he doesn’t have to wake up early from hibernation. When asked about Jill’s record, Bill Lang from the zoo says “She has yet to be wrong and has a better record than Punxsutawney Phil!” This is why the motto around Birmingham Zoo is: ‘Opossums are awesome!’
