St. Thomas Sally is a large, colourful groundhog mural in downtown St. Thomas, Ontario. The mural was painted by local artist Arlin Graff in May 2023 and led to the City of St. Thomas beginning its Groundhog Day tradition. Mayor Joe Preston has described Sally as “probably the best predictor of all the groundhogs because she’s higher than most and way more colourful than most” — although the relationship between a groundhog’s colour and their prediction accuracy has not been scientifically established. Sally is a trailblazer in more ways than one: she is a rare female groundhog, and also the only groundhog mural.
