Portage la Prairie Larry is a plush groundhog who makes an annual weather prediction for Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. While some groundhogs show up to the same place every year, Larry doesn’t tell too many people where he’ll be on February 2nd. Larry also doesn’t waste time — with how cold it often is in Portage la Prairie, he pops up, takes a look, and then dives back underground. Despite the challenge of locating Larry, his handler Randy Lilley says it’s worth it because “Groundhog Day is the best day of the year.”
